The Literacy and Basic Skills Program (LBS) provides adults in Ontario with the essential skills needed to achieve their goals of employment, furthering education or independence. The program is free and follows this five step process:
VALA offers information and referrals out to key community partners. This provides additional support to help learners reach their goals. Through the Literacy and Basic Skills program (LBS) we offer workplace training and employment preparation with the flexibility to meet the needs of each individual.
The assessment determines the person’s existing level of skills, their learning style, and their needs.
Instructors then work with learners to identify specific goals and map out their goal path towards success.
Personalized training plans are designed to help the learner succeed. Through the process of developing a training plan, learners map out a possible sequence for training.
At VALA, we ensure that training materials support the diversity of learning approaches and learner needs. Training is individualized and tailored to the learner’s needs.
VALA contacts learners at three, six, and twelve months after they leave the program in order to document their progress.
We're here to help you take the next step!
